Calmbay was not created as a trend-driven beauty brand.
Its foundation lies in years of research into microbiology, fungi and targeted peptide technology.

The technology behind Calmbay was first explored in solutions for fungal-related conditions such as nail fungus, where similar microorganisms play a role. During that process, a much larger opportunity became impossible to ignore.

More than half of people experience dandruff or scalp flaking at some point in their lives, yet the category itself has remained surprisingly outdated.

Many people still feel stuck between cosmetic products that do little long term, or clinical-looking treatments that disrupt the entire haircare experience.

Calmbay was created to close that gap.

Developed together with experts

Calmbay brings together expertise from microbiology, scalp science and premium haircare development.

The brand was co-created by a founder with a background in peptide innovation for fungal-related care, together with a haircare specialist with more than 15 years of experience across brands such as L’Oréal and Wella, working closely with salons and scalp professionals.

From the beginning, Calmbay has been developed in close collaboration with specialists across scalp science, formulation and professional haircare.

We work together with:

  • a laboratory and production partner with more than 100 years of experience in cosmetics and scalp formulations
  • a microbiologist specialized in peptide research and fungal-related skin conditions, who has published scientific work in this field
  • an advisory network including trichologists, hair professionals and formulation experts

This combination allows us to look at dandruff from multiple perspectives: microbiology, scalp health, formulation performance and daily usability.

Because effective scalp care is not only about what performs well in a lab. It also needs to fit naturally into someone’s routine.

Traditional anti-dandruff products are usually rinse-off shampoos.
Most focus primarily on removing visible flakes during washing.

We wanted to approach the scalp more like skincare, with targeted ingredients, longer contact time and more respect for the scalp barrier and microbiome.

Our hero product therefore became a leave-in scalp treatment powered by peptide technology and modern anti-dandruff actives.
